Airventure Report

Packed and ready

by Rob Riggen

I'm packed and ready to head to the airport Saturday morning at 0415. I like to get to Oshkosh a couple of days before the show so I have time to set up my camp site and walk around and talk to some of the folks setting up their booths in a relaxed environment. The experience of feeling the energy build toward opening day is incredible. People arrive in droves from the highways and the airways. What a blast!

I have a load of gear for recording events at the show. Last year was my first time going and I found the whole thing a little overwhelming. Now that I've done it once, I've been able to plan a little more carefully. I'm going to try to attend several forums and get lots of photographs of homebuilt airplanes. Hopefully I'll come away with some interesting reading for future Hotline issues.

I'm also presenting a forum with Bob Collins on using Web resources to aid the building process. The forum is on Monday at 2:30. If you're coming to the show and you can spare some time, please joins us for the discussion!

You can bet I'll do my best to keep the information rolling during and after the show!
